Join Summer Scholars
You don’t have to wait to begin your college experience — start this summer!
Summer Scholars is a program available to all incoming first-year engineering students who complete high school graduation by June 6, 2019. Get a jump-start on college, meet new friends, and get acclimated to campus all before the fall semester. This program is focused on providing you with a successful transition to Illinois, enhancing your leadership skills, increasing your academic performance for the first-year, and giving you the opportunity to explore your interests and passions. This program allows you to not wait until Fall 2019 to begin your college experience, but start in the summer.
In Summer Scholars you will arrive June 7th and enroll as a full-time student during “Summer Session 2” – June 10th through August 2nd, 2019 taking 6-8 credits (2 courses). You and your fellow scholars will participate in workshops, events, and fun activities.
You will choose a themed cohort. You will be provided resources and opportunities to dive deep into your chosen theme and explore engineering.
Advanced engineering students will serve as residence hall advisors and teaching assistants in your Scholar Cohort course, providing a unique opportunity to work closely with experienced engineering students. These are trained peer leaders who assist with mentoring, tutoring, community development, and class work.
Admitted first-year students who accept the offer to Illinois within: (a) the College of Engineering , (b) College of ACES- Agricultural and Biological Engineering, or (c) College of LAS- Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.
